I have both TVPad 3 and TVPad 4 and both are working fine using VPN and DNS changed. Both of my TVPad are using VPN services from PrivateInternetAccess. $40/year and can use up to 5 devices.

    TVPad 4
All I did was changed the DNS on the TVPad to 49.213.10.163. Then I went to TVPadStore to install the TVFileManager app which allow me to sideload the PrivateInternetAcess app on to the TVPad. After the APK is install, launch it , entered my ID and password and select the Hong Kong server and that was it. Everything work and things stream a lot faster than before too.

    TVPad3
I brought a $19 TPLink TL-WR841N V9 router from Microcenter, flashed it with DD-WRT and just followed the instruction on PrivateInternetAccess site for DD_WRT PPTP setup. The way they connect is just like the diagram from XChemical on page 1. DNS on TVPad also need to change to 49.213.10.163. Everything works.

@cashcow: What IP address and subnet mask did you use for the 2 routers? How have you set up the TP-Link router? I assume you had to set a static IP address on the TP-LInk? What IP address did you use for gateway? Is DHCP on? Is NAT on? What IP address is your TVPad3 set at? Any tips on routing the VPN router would be greatfully received. TIA

The PureVPN deal for $69 for lifetime is the best deal yet. They said they are the fastest VPN in the World and can connect to 5 devices. That means i can use one account for 5 TV Pad 4 for lifetime. I don't know if i can use it in 5 different physical locations such as my house, my parent's house, my work, my brother's house, and my friend's house.

I just purchased purevpn but it doesn't work well with v5.06 firmware. It seems like it's missing dns like other VPN provider.

I received an email of more apps from TV Pad. They are trying to remedy the blocking if US customers. They may be not as good as before but maybe 1/3 of before the outage.

    tomato123,

Can you try using the PureVPN on a router?

I don't have an extra router to test. But the damn TVpad with 5.06 firmware. As long as I change the DNS, i got restricted message.

PureVPN does not seems to work without modify DNS.

It seems that with the 5.06 firmware, many apps, such as Dolphin, Zenmate and may other VPN clients cannot get access to the internet. So the Zenmate method may not work. One way to do it is to configure a router to run as a dedicated VPN gateway, but that would be very an expensive option.

By the way, is the $60 for life time PureVPN deal legit?

You can always use a computer to do the VPN and share it via wifi to the TVpad... instructions here:
    http://tvpadtalk.com/3/591/how_to_connect_vpn_using_computer_and_tvpad__both_needs_wifi

As for the lifetime PureVPN deal, the question is like I always ask manufacturers when they say lifetime warranty, their lifetime or our lifetime? ;)

Zenmate app works well with 5.06 firmware but it's very expensive if you go for one year plan. But at least you got one week trial.

PureVPN app does not work at all.
