For those of you with TVPAD4 + VPN working:

    1) TVB live works (??????)?
    2) TVB VOD works (??????)?
    3) movie VOD works (????)?

    4) where what is your destination VPN country?
    5) auto DNS or what DNS do you use?

    Saw this on Slickdeals blog

FYI, people who have been using OpenVPN or any type of SSL-ish VPN client on their tvpad recently. It might have been failing due to SSL certificate issues. This happened to me and it seems as though the automatic clock sync was turned off on the android settings behind the scenes. SSL is highly dependent on the fact that your clock is in sync. My tvpad thought it was the year 2000. In any case, you'll need to install app called "ClockSync". It'll fail when it tries the first time and then it asks to use "rootless mode". This basically opens up the Android settings for automatic time sync'ing. Your OpenVPN client should work immediately after that."

On TVPad4 YueTV.apk replaces 90% of the content noted in item 1, 2,3 ; and no VPN is needed.
For movie, sideload showbox.apk, you have more non-Chinese movie options.
    Hope this helps.

If you insist on using VPN, Hong Kong/Japan/China servers would be good choice. TVPad network/WiFi setting should be set to 'auto'

    Hope this helps.

Just saw Phyx726 posted his new thread here on tvpadtalk.
  • Most good VPN service suitable for streaming, p2p and torrenting cost between $8-$10 a month.
I am using https://www.ivacy.com/torrent-vpn/ which is only $2.04 per month, less than even half of what you told
