I just installed those 29 apps and here is my experience,
I have a TVpad 4 with firmware 5.054
I set my network connection to acquire DNS automatically.
I live in California
I am only interested in Cantonese progamme, i.e. TVB therefore out of 29 apps I found only two fits my need. I tried the other apps too but they are either slow to load the app or slow to load the selected program.
The above post mentioned these two apps for Cantonese shows,
1. ???? - it is actually named ????
2. ???
The first app has many channels from HK and TW, some are loaded smoothly (probably it is not a popular channel) but unable to load "????" or "J2".
The second app is a VOD app for drama or variety shows, don't mistake it for something like "????" and I can't load anything because it is so damn slow.
Therefore my conclusion is those apps are pretty much useless
Hey do you happen to have the 5.054 FW? I tried every solution on the forum on 5.06 and nothing to get it working in Hawaii. Wanted to revert back to see if I can modify something.
Have you try the vpn one? Some one reported that the vpn solutions work on 5.06 too.
Again how did you upgrade your pad to 5.06, I thought those of us in the states can't upgrade to it using the pad's own
upgrade function.

If you see the .apk files on the USB drive, you can just select the .apk and press 'ok' on the remote, and the 'confirm install' menu should be invoked. Right?
Yea I did the VPN method and it doesn't work at all. I tried connecting and none would let me connect to any China servers.
I upgraded it manually by accident since I MISREAD the instructions.

With 5.054 FW and 29 apps. I am able to watch TVB recorded programs in past week in two units. No live programs or news at this time. But it's better than nothing and keep the household happy.

So for people who manually upgraded to 5.06, I only have one app called VST something working now. If I change the DNS I get restricted user but changing DNS to auto won't allow any of the other apps besides VST to work. Can I reformat? Will that put me back on the lower firmware?

But some of the new apps has a lot of live channel more than the original 23 app

Able to install all the 29 apps
Agree that most of the apps are either junk, or I have already installed from app store.
The app ???? failed to load any channel. keep buffering
The app ??? (there are actually 2) - both of them are very slow.
However, I was able to use the CLOUD TV app to load some live stream stations, such as RTHK and HKTV, even get to see TVB (Jade) once.

app pack has the 516 Taiwan app?
Are you sure? which one is it.
I was looking for the "6" icon but did not see it.
Just make sure when you unzip it, you have all the files.
If not, download winrar. rename the apps before you unzip it.
