I tried getting PPTP to work too but mine didn't work as well. I just used OpenVPN. I installed it into my TVPad4. vpngate.net have the OpenVPN config file. If you're interested you can do the OpenVPN route but requires you to fw update it to 5.060. This is base on Lbe's information.

    I followed this: http://tvpadtalk.com/3/109/page=2/_subject_ - by Lbe

I added OpenVPN apk - OpenVPN Download

It is a little technical. You need a second router which is able to configured as VPN client. However a lot of cheap routers can do the job. Afterwards, you have to sign up a VPN service which has a Hong Kong based server. Couples of providers give you 1 to 7 days trial period.

After setting up of the second router, you connect the TVPAD to this VPN router.

One little thing you have be aware, my TVPAD1 lost its Green Man after powering off. So you may be connected to Hong Kong but a Grey Man.

Eventually I used my laptop, connected to the VPN, to browse to TVB web site and watched those archived and live programs. One more thing, I connected the laptop to my big screen TV. It sounds I'm backed to 10 years ago. But it is the only way to watch those TVB programs for the time being and it is legit. Haha!

    Guide is for old firmware.
And don't upgrade firmware if you are located in us.

Have a tvpad2 so couldn't do it the tvpad4 way.... I tried loading the openVPN config file into the ASUS router and it keeps saying IP conflict. On Windows 10, I did get VPNGate to work using their software on my notebook but TVPad2 wouldn't connect to the notebook's WiFi hotspot software.

    Device: TVPad 1 m M121
    DNS: 49.213.10.163
    Country: Eastern Canada
    Date: 04/11/15 to now

My automatic DNS was started with 198. I manually changed to 49. This DNS has worked on Nov.4 until the 5th 6:30pm EDT. The stream was frozen and I had to exit and re-load program. It has since then stopped working.
Network tested to be all normal, just no green man. The old 198 DNS is all dead and abnormal.

I have a thought that my tvpad is purchased from US and possibly the MAC number belongs to the US user group. Any TVpad 1 works in Canada now?

BTW, my tvpad is Android 2.3.4, I don't think all tvpad are linux.

The rest you have to enter based on your local home network.

Linux Board Support Package to be exact but Android is Linux too so the older versions may have been modified Android as it claims to be Android in the about pages...
