Most routers can configure to use VPN. Please note that VPN (vritual private network) is a service that you have to purchase.

Please check out the first post on this thread, It has the diagram.

The PureVPN APK works for a few hours but it crashed 3 times. When it was working, it was great. I could watch any app just like before the outage. When I unpluged the power, it need to go back into the app to manually hit connect each time. It then crashed all in a sudden about about 1 to 2 hours. The TV Pad 4 said "no network connection" even it was plugged into the Ethernet cable. Uninstall and reinstall the PureVPN was no use. I ended up Restore the TV Pad three times in a day. I guess TV Pad 4 is Android but not the same Android on a cell phone or tablet. It has conflict with the PureVPN APK. Therefore, this is too unreliable.

If you are in New York, it may work for just 5 minutes and then it will come out with a message " Region not support" message and the app close. I saw it yesterday. I was able to watch TVB for a few minutes without any VPN and then the message come up. When I performed a Restore, I can watch a few more minutes. Let me check again later. I think it is TV Pad blocking the signal themselves to the US as a way to avoid further lawsuits.

Thanks tomato123, restored the original apps, tvb is working now, only some movie and taiwan app still has area restriction. vpn app on tvpad seems like not stable, probably vpn on router is a better option.

Tomato123, I am using firmware 5.06 with VPN 46.x via HK (all apps worked initially in US). I noticed there were app updates available in TvPad store. After updating the apps, I started to get 'Region not support' error then exit in BeTV, Movie, and HKTV. Luckily, I left TVB alone and tried the other apps first. TVB still works fine with the old app. Looks like the new apps have a region check upon startup. Should we just conect directly to a mainland China VPN server? but we will need a China DNS -- I assume.

For Private Internet Access, Mexico servers are faster and no restirction.

So I disputed the Tvpad transaction and now I guess they blocked my tvpad. I cannot do anything on it. Is there a way to jail break it or anything?

Do you live in the US and have firmware 5.06? If so, read ALL the previous posts.

Check your Internet Connection section of your Router, Normally it's set to DHCP, if you have the option to select PPTP, you're set. No need for a VPN router. All the VPN router does is it allows you to VPN into your home network. For instance, you're in a hotel, and want your laptop connects to your home network so access your home media files and such. The VPN router basically does that, and more. You don't want to VPN in, you want to VPN out. Which pretty much all routers can do with PPTP.
