I am using openvpn and use the .opvn file from vpngate, then change dns to auto. It works until I change the dns to 49.* (bad bad bad) and then the TVPad can't connect to LAN. Of course the only thing I can do is to do a factory reset and all my apps are gone and I can't access the apps store anymore.
I downloaded and installed the 23 apps but none of them work. I have another working TVPad 4 where live stream is working but the playbacks not. I checked the apps version on the working one and the not working one and they all
have the same versions. So I believe what Lbe said that all those apps, though targeted for fw 5.6, should also work in
fw 5.054
The working one has the same setup and same fw version as mentioned above.
So I am lost 8-(

The tvpad dns will block connection to most vpn as of recently. To get those vod play back to work , you need to have a tvpad dns. Setup a vpn router with those .opvn file is the best way to resolve it atm. Or just install Yue tv.

None of the DNS is working. I think it will be out forever. I posted a message on the other thread 'call on all tvpad users'. See if we can reach a compromise so at least our older units would not be wasted.
Below is the message i posted:
If you think more about it, they could care or less if we boycott the upgrade. Once the tvpad unit is sold, they don't get any more revenue. There is no subscription fee to pay in order to watch the tvpad programs. It is a one time deal and they don't get further income. The only way to generate more income is to get customer buy their newer products. I know eventually this will happen, from a business point of view. Look at companies like Microsoft, they stop supporting Windows 95, 98, vista, 2000 etc. , you name it That is how they can be sure they will continue to get income to support their existence. To them, those who own tvpad1, 2, 3 are no longer their customers. What might truly affect them is their reputation because now people are pissed and refuse to upgrade. What i see a better outcome would be for tvpad to charge a minimal monthly fee to use Tvpad, a fee such as $10 a month, so they can continue to have income to support their operation. And for us, we rather pay $10 than to DISH or the cable conpany as tvpad is so much better.

@tomato123: my apps have the same version as yours.
tvpadfan.cn does not have a download section, if you or anybody can access these newer .apk, it will be awesome
Yes I know, but how to get to TVPad4 store? What DNS do you use to access the store.
I have set the TVPad4 to auto all these time.
Apologize for being ignorant here.
Auto network setting will now give you the correct DNS instead of identical to the internet gateway. Once the apps are updated, they all work fine.

I have Private Internet Access paid VPN service, got it to setup with my router, (entire home wifi is on vpn), but still does not seem to work with TVPAD 3. Any help? DNS is on AUTO, should I change it back to Manuel and try a different DNS number, or is TVPAD all together dead regardless?

TVPad 3 is dead. I have the same setup a you and only my TVpad4 works. My 2 TVpad 3s are paper weights now.

TVPad 3 is dead. I have the same setup a you and only my TVpad4 works. My 2 TVpad 3s are paper weights now.
