    @BennyLam:
    I installed the Quick App Setting app, clear the VPN Unlimited cache & data, then re-start the VPN Unlimited app, log in using proper credentials,
    I was able to select the server (e.g. Japan), and see the 'trust this app' modal.
    I was able to toggle the server's ON/OFF, but 'connection successful' message was never shown.
    the progress bar on server connection stuck at 'starting'.
    If I used the <back> button on TVPad remote to exit the progress prompt, the error message
    "VPN service was not started due to internal exception" was still displayed.

    Did I miss any crucial step while performing this data/cache clean-up task? This app is so simple to use and I see that I did not miss any step.
    Comments welcome.

    Thanks.

    Excellent idea, but the VPNunlimited app is more fun to use.

    @Lbe:
    I contacted tech support and requested .ovpn profiles for their servers, and they sent me a list of address for VPN router setup.

    What is the exact terminology you used when you requested these profiles?

    Better yet, do you have the physical files handy? If you do, can you zip them up and send it to me?

    Thanks in advance

    Just email their support and ask for the openvpn profile.

    Can't share the files because each cert is for particular account

    Dear Padman or other VPN Unlimited users -

    When configure a 2nd router from VPN Unlimited provider. Do we need to flash the router firmware with DD-WRT? or Can we just enter the host name and sign in credentials in the PPTP/L2TP?

    Don't need to flash

    Hi Orca4wd,
    I ultimately took the same approach as you did: performed a system restore and re-install the 23 apps.
    After system restore, as you have mentioned, the VPN Unlimited app worked like a charm.
    I was able to connect & disconnect various VPN servers properly.

    Guess that TVPad's core networking configuration file was messed up at some point when I used OpenVPN to connect to those free VPNGate servers.

    Really appreciated your help.

    Thanks.

    I'm glad the restored worked out for you Fustrated. Somehow, when I went into my VPN Unlimited account to uncover one unknown device name "router" was activated. At this point, I haven't activate my 2nd router yet so am confused. One hutch is that VPN may set-up a profile because I asked for a manual PPTP settings and .ovpn files to configure 2nd router. Do you have an unknown device showed up in your account list?
  • fustratedfustrated TV Nuts
    edited December 2015
    Yes.
    I saw one device call 'settings' was activated.
    Before I did the restore, I tried to connect to their .ovpn profile using another .app called OpenVpn_for_android.apk.
    After the restore, I saw 2 M201 devices were activated.
    Now my account shows 3 devices activated even though in reality there is only 1 (TVPad4)
    I have to contact customer support to figure out which 2 to deactivate.

    I can have a DD-WRT router as the 2nd router behind the main one. Does VPN Unlimited has a support page or screenshot for setting up PPTP connection? I would like to use PPTP rather than OpenVPN for easy setup and less overhead. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Thanks for the direction, that page is the instruction and script for running OpenVPN client. I would like to use PPTP client mode instead. Thanks anyway.

    Hi Everyone,

    This is my first time posting something here but I have been reading many of the threads since the TVPad went offline. I have a TVPad 4 with 5.06 as its firmware. I am interested in the VPN solution that padman posted. I joined VPN unlimited yesterday, downloaded the app and installed it into the TVPad and try to connect to a server like others here, I too got an internal exception error and it won't connect. I read that you need an openvpn profile from VPN unlimited which I received this morning. Now, I have no idea what I should do with it. Please can any of you computer experts out there help me out please? Many thanks in advance.

    1) install the openvpn app.

    2) put the profile in the USB drive and import it from the openvpn app.
    menu->import->import from sd card
    point to root->storage->external ->storage->sda1->
    select one of the profile you save in the usb

    One of your M201 device should be the VPN client for TVP4. I think the other M201 device is a duplicate. So, I'm suspecting your device name "settings" is the same as my "router", probably due to request of an individual .ovpn profile. Would you please keep me inform from customer service? I tried to inquiry but never got a response...

    Hi Everyone,

    I have installed openvpn app and imported all the files from VPN Unlimited. When I try to connect to one of the server via OpenVPN, it gives me an error "Certificate Verification failed". Not sure what I have done wrong? Do I need to log into OpenVPN to connect?

    Please advice. Thank you in advance!

    I emailed their customer service, and their response was:
    " Settings' device is your manual settings we provided you. It needs to be stated as a separate device. "

    They did remove the duplicate device.

    I asked for their server servers' PPTP settings, and maybe by providing those info, they had to waste a device.
