Just a word of advise. Don't sign up with PureVPN, tried to cancel my account and asked for a refund. For 5 days, kept giving the run around. Stay away.
a) The DNS is like a phone book, it directs you to the TVPAD servers.
b) Once you can reach the TVPAD server, the server looks at your VPN and decide whether to let you stream (out of region errors).
When you are on VPN, go to dnsleaktest.com to see if you are still with your home country's DNS. For my case, I am located in the US, and I used VPN to connect to overseas, but when I went to dnsleaktest.com, I am on Google's US DNS (when I am off VPN, it shows that I am on my internet provider's DNS). My theory is all DNS based in US does not direct to TVPAD servers anymore, due to the verdict of the lawsuit. If your DNS is US but can reach TVPAD streaming servers, you are lucky.
1) I explained above why even with VPN (tvpad server will think you are not in the US and stream you the contents), you still need DNS because your DNS (phone book) needs to be able to direct you to the tvpad server in the first place.
Paid DNS might work as well because in this case, the paid DNS controls the phone book.
Hope my explanation helps.

Aha, this make perfect sense now. Completely forgot about the dns leak story in the last week

I got my tvpad1 work after I purchased the paid DNS. Thanks padman.
Also I installed the vchannel to my tvpad4, it always gave me the message "sorry, this video can not be played." Any idea?

I am from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It seems the TVs are not available again. The speed is always between 0 and 4 kb and will not load and show the tv program. Cross your figures and hope it will start showing again in a day or two. -D

I have a TVpad 4, any one knows how to get to the app store? Any good DNS I can use? I did a factory reset and now I can't go the app store and download the Canotnese shows apps.
Check the TVPad 4 Useful files topic. It has your apps.

I did. Unfortunately the Cantonese apps in the 23-files-zip are for fw 5.06. I am still using 5.54 since I am in the US, I do not want to do a fw upgrade. Is there a place I can download those Cantonese apps for fw 5.54? Or a way to access the apps store?
TIA

2) Is SmartDNS same as paid DNS? or any equivalent service to paid DNS or is the one offered here specifically for the tvpad (no other use)?
Does anyone know if there is a way to pull a show or drama out so I don't need to keep going through the entire catalog to find it?
Also how does one use the search options, I can't type chinese and titles aren't in english

1) You are not in USA.
or
2) You set a DNS that not in USA. Leave it auto if you are in USA.

The apps tends to load at 175kb, then goes down to 0 kb.
My DNS is 46.xx.xx.xx
