    DNS 123 is working in Boston area for TVpad2. But only live TV. No program schedule and previous programs.

    Noticed there were some inquiries by many member for alternate DNS addresses to plug in to help determine if that would make any difference or not; these DNS addresses are all in China broken down by geographic areas of China as well as the actual reported reliability and stability factor also as well; as reported by many member I have not been able to utilize my TVpad3 even when using and running through the entire recommended extensive database listing of DNS numbers that have been collected so far;

    so I theorized that as a result of the California default $65million judgement by the judge to find TVpad in violation of copyright infringement case brought by the plaintiffs and to take action to halt the distribution, marketing and support of all US based TVpad devices as well as block and prevent the utilization of all known US based DNS addresses with the help and cooperation of ISP providers;

    now there was really only one possible remaining way that one might be still able to get utilize one TVpad device to still get access to china based tvb and cctv broadcast programming; that being using China based DNS addresses to insert them alternatively into ones TVpad device hoping that would somehow work;

    there is some good news arising from this most unfortunate situation and predicament for many TVpad device users however on the horizon; in that I have successfully used several of thes China based DNS addresses and they seem to work somewhat to be able to still get the live tv streaming programming for the tvb drama shows from china broadcast shows;

    I am currently as of the 27th of November using TVpad3 on mine with a China based DNS address being utilized and it actually works; where previously I was using US based DNS addresses; now using US based DNS addresses came to a screeching halt around nov 26th; as reported by other members that all US based DNS addresses are basically effectively non-operational to TVpad users going forward in time; if that is the case give the below China DNS based addresses a whirl; as one does not have much to lose if one is unable to gain access to utilizing ones TVpad device; not much down side so expectation wise not much to lose:

    please note that this is a very simple to implement "substitute the DNS number into ones TVpad"(xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx); as an additional note don't bother to do the network test; as it will still likely report "abnormal" status; however the most interesting thing however if one goes into "tvb" and selects the first entry selection; one can actually see it load up the live tv programming eventually; one can actually see it reporting the download speed of content its attempting to download and then stream;

    and then of course actually start streaming it; which after all in the final analysis is all what we really want in the first place; its certainly a lot better off than the unfortunate state I was in before; which was a big black useless lifeless TVpad 3 box just sitting there like a stonehenge rectangular shaped black plastic looking inoperational device;

    so I am not really complaining from this point going forward; this is the best that I have been able to get now so far; this of course given the fact that the judge has ruled against TVpad and all the TVpad devices and all its associated TVpad users in a way that is not likely to grant any relief any time soon;

    in any event I am truly grateful in whatever China "tvb" and even cctv broadcast programming that can potentially be intercepted on a "better than nothing" basis; all from utilizing the alternative substitution of China based DNS addresses; which may or may not work "now" or in the "future";

    naturally of course ones mileage and results may vary but if one patiently follows and experiments and trials using the different alternative China based DNS addresses; the ultimate reward will be a working China DNS address that will enable one to use ones TVpad device to intercept potential China "tvb" and even cctv broadcast programming as I have already done;

    recognize and keep in mind that we are not supposed to be getting any sort of "tvb" and even cctv broadcast programming using any TVpad device now or in the future as a result of the California judges ruling against TVpad; unfortunately if we live in the United States using TVpad devices as TVpad users as decreed by the California judge unfortunately going forward;

    now currently as of 5am 27th of November I have live "tvb" and cctv broadcast programming available to view on an uninterrupted stable and reliable basis so far; now if I am actually unable to get tvb/cctv video programming for some reason I will naturally make an updated post to reflect this and to help keep any interested potential members informed and in the feedback loop on an ongoing basis;

    thanks to all for taking the time in reading my post if you have gotten this far;

    I was just trying to help all those panic stricken, innocently victimized, and helpless TVpad 1, TVpad 2, TVpad 3, TVpad 4 box users left holding the bag; especially if they recently spent quite a princely sum of money acquiring their latest TVpad device new or used acquisition on ebay with basically nothing to show for it as a result on a financial compensation wise basis; the good news is this should work for just about any TVpad box device even if its an old or even new TVpad device box;

    it really should not matter at all since its specifically directing and giving very specific detailed bypassing instructions for the TVpad device to go alternatively instead to the provided supplemental correct required destination China DNS based addresses; thus effectively now bypassing any and all of the now restricted and blocked US DNS based addresses which have been basically rendered useless overnight from the 27th of November going forward; as a result of the California's judges default judgement decree against all TVpad devices and its associated users; to prevent the use of the US DNS based addresses to block the effective use of the TVpad device;

    I have just recently updated and expanded the initial posting to try and help those newbies who are not as familiar with entering in DNS information and the rational logic behind it; please remember that all TVpad devices also have a very specific MAC ID addresses(license plate specific id) that is tied to the TVpad hardware that basically cannot be erased or modified;

    now eventually over time of course one could still eventually wind up as a result of the judges decreed enforcement default judgement decree action still be completely shut down eventually; depending of course on how much overall technical effort is actually required to be implemented over time and of course how much actual money is to be ultimately spent in shutting down completely the TVpad hardware device and the service that it provides its TVpad device owners and users;

    but at least in the meantime if that were indeed winding up to be in fact the case; one would at least have gotten some additional derived utility from having paid for and acquired the TVpad device itself; additionally also as well if you have an extra TVpad 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th generation device that one truly no longer needs or wants;

    at least in that way one can at least probably get half of the money one has originally invested into it back in the form of cash by selling it privately on e-bay; thus thereby at least recouping a large portion of ones initial investment at least; and this is even after having fully utilized in a more fully productive way probably than; if one were not to trial and experiment inputting the China based DNS numbers to make ones TVpad 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation TVpad devices; as there are some TVpad users with multiple generation TVpad devices that can now be hopefully rendered useful once again; and even resold if so desired to help recoup ones investment in ones original TVpad device itself.

    Some operational notes; using the supplied China DNS based addresses one does not have to worry about powering off their TVpad device no matter whether its 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th generation TVpad as it holds the last operational DNS entered so long as its not switched back over to Auto selection; thus its important to always remember to keep it in manual DNS selection mode and not Automatic DNS selection mode; its easy enough to do once one has done it as many times as I have or anyone trialing and experimenting with their TVpad device; except for the newbies of course naturally;

    no worries however as its simple enough to learn how to do on ones own; hopefully this do-it-yourself China DNS address based modification once learned should dramatically simplify ones life and reduce ones stress levels; when one is not able to use ones TVpad device nominally as simply, productively and as effectively as possible;

    I am happy to still report that I am operating on a 100% up and completely rock solid stable basis watching live streaming tvB dramas and cctv programming without any problems whatsoever so far; so its definitely worth it if one has not forayed over into switching ones DNS over to the China based DNS addresses; as previously outlined and discussed;

    it simply and easily works, with absolutely "no muss" and "no fuss" and in fact also simply refuses to stop working after entering those four separate China based DNS component addresses; life is good once again for TVpad users however not so much for TVpad the corporation though;

    and even if I truly had to re-enter a China based DNS component address; for some unknown unspecified reason; I could be back up in a grand total of about "four minutes" tops in terms of total "outage" time; no troubleshooting down time(s) required; no dreaded headache(s); no ambiguous configuration woe(s) ever period; nothing but 100% uptime to enjoy all the live "tvb" and "cctv" broadcast video programming; still absolutely cost free and still without any interruptions since the 27th of November; life is good for TVpad users once again;

    so sorry to hear of all the ongoing members TVpad woes; couple troubleshooting tips that may or may not help but the good news it will at least help one to isolate where the failure point might be occuring in the actual reverse troubleshooting process; I also find it helpful to document ones steps along the way; so that if one inadvertently finds or discovers a way to make it work for oneself it can easily be duplicated reliably and repeatably; this is how I normally discover things when I am on the verge of giving up myself; i.e. TVpad woes in particular;

    now its important to note that after one enters a prospective China based DNS address; it should be ideally from the 100% stability/reliability tier if at all possible; fortunately there are six of them so no worries there;

    101.251.252.252 Beijing 27/11 100%
    106.39.38.250 Beijing 27/11 100%
    118.102.25.66 Langfang dnsmasq265 27/11 100%
    61.185.50.66 Xian dnsmasq255 27/11 100%
    183.230.118.135 dnsmasq2.66 27/11 100%
    111.47.80.66 27/11 100%

    now after entering the four separate component numbers that make up the actual China based DNS address; one then simply uses ones remote to hit ok; at that after a moment or two pause; it should accept and respond with an Ok prompt after about five seconds or so;

    at that point one simply unplugs one TVpad device and waits 10 seconds or so to allow the TVpad device to completely reset itself electrically; one then simply replugs TVpad device waiting for it to boot up to the TVpad menu screen;

    one then uses the remote to select the gear cog icon; next go into the LAN network configuration to actually check the recently changed newly input China based DNS address; double check that the four separate component numbers that make up the actual China based DNS address are confirmed and verified as still correct; also don't bother checking functionality via network test as it will probably likely report that it is abnormal yet still wind up working; at least it was for me anyway in my experience(unusual but true real life observed discovered reported fact);

    then next simply use the back button on the remote to back out all the way to the main menu; one can then next simply check for functionality by accessing live TVB broadcast programming; now I usually go to TVB-2 for functionality and testing purposes;

    now after TVB content starts being initially loaded one should see download bandwidth meter become active as it attempts to load the selected programming content; now if ones broadband connection is limited this may take awhile(I fortunately have 180Mbps internet bandwidth); after an interminable delay ones selected live TVB broadcast programming; now your mileage may vary naturally of course or not but this has been my experience anyway;

    now I initially very nearly gave up myself when I went thru quite a number of the DNS addresses in bulk quantities and I also initially ran the LAN test and was very dismayed to learn that it was reporting abnormal status; then after a very long prolonged marathon session of continuing to input DNS addresses; I was somewhat physically exhausted from the round robin session of entering, testing and trialing the input of DNS addresses; I said heck why not do something different since I was getting nowhere anyway with nothing to lose at this point;

    now low and behold when I suddenly and unexpectedly tested for TVB functionality and testing purposes I did not expect it to work and did the test primarily to give myself a much needed break from the marathon session of the bulk wholesale inputting of DNS addresses; I was drinking my coffee(expecting to see nothing but a spinning whirling busy indicator and nothing else afterwards to visually entertain me and keep me company);

    when I all of a sudden I notice that the TVB content starts being initially loaded somehow inexplicably; next I also subsequently see the download bandwidth meter become active and actually register numbers as it attempts to load the selected programming content; holy cow I nearly spilled the half the coffee on myself and had the other half of the coffee go down the wrong windpipe directly down to my lungs; as I physically coughed and half sputtered up the other half of swallowed coffee and half inadvertently inhaled coffee gone down the windpipe;

    I was both literally amazed and entirely flabbergasted indeed at this accidental serendipitous inadvertent unexpected discovery; now I initially did this only to initially amuse and entertain myself while giving myself a coffee break and also a much needed break; not even remotely anticipating and/or expecting anything but a spinning whirling busy indicator to entertain me and keep me company during my solitary depressing coffee break; now what an amazing shock and totally unexpected pleasant surprise my coffee break turned out to be winding up to be after all;

    but like I said your mileage may vary(no promises of course); the key thing and point here is don't give up even when one so desparately wants to; as one may be closer than one actually thinks to ones actual target objective; I find its extremely helpful to keep ones "good humor" and "wits" about them when doing this sort of reverse troubleshooting style that I often employ and deploy to further investigate, trial and experiment with TVpad woes as I have typically and routinely have described above; however luckily in my particular case my unique unrelenting patience, my undying disciplined hard driving reverse troubleshooting techniques, my own stubborn hard headedness persistence did pay off big time;

    on that final thought and positive note I wish all members as much luck as I have been fortunate enough to have been granted in allowing my TVpad device to become fully 100% operational on a live "TVB" and "CCTV" broadcast tv programming basis; no "vod" or "playback" capabilities though; but as I understand I have now restored the equivalent of being able to view "TVB" and "CCTV" IPTV broadcast tv programming; and I am very happy and satisfied with that outcome so far; in actually having that basic capability restored once again to my TVpad 3rd generation device once again; "cheers" and "good luck" to all members in their TVpad troubleshooting woes!

    Thank you (daneil58) for the update. I have a question that you might be able to answer for me.
    In order to use china based DNS numbers, do I need to change my location to China on the setting?
    So far I tried 3 of them with no luck. Preciated in advance hoping you can clearfy this for the fellow Tvpad users.
    Thanks again.

    I'm currently using PureVPN as VPN services and using tvpad 3;

    It seems that none of my korean vod channels are working, but live TV streaming still works.

    I think my router is set correctly since ip address correspond to VPN servers (I tried Korea, Hong Kong, and China)

    Is anyone else having difficulties getting an access to korean vod channels?

    Now my korean vod channels are in korean so koreans must've distributed the channels and shut them down from the lawsuit.

    Is there a chinese korean vod channels that I might get accessed to tvpad 3 (by app install using USB?)

    I'm going to sleep for now

    However, if anyone is willing to give URL address to other asian channels downloads; I'll try to install them using USB and will let you know if it works or not

    on tvpad 3.

    I only use BETV on the TVpad, so i can't confirm anything for TVB and other apps. TVPad 1 was working fine without VPN using the 49 dns, but my house lost power and after power was restored the green man was gone. I tried the 123 dns and a few of the china dns(s) but it didnt work, so i gave up and got VPN service. At first i tried with hong kong, japan, switzerland, and germany servers without any dns...nope didnt work, then i added the 49 dns and its working again.

    So for those with working TVPads using dns only, don't power off the device.
