For the laptop, are you sure the laptop's wifi isn't connected to router 1 as well ?

Oregon pad3, I used the DNS123 today 11-27, the Hong Kong live is working not much else but the hot ???is working as I can watch some Korean dramas in that app.
I turned off wifi on my testing laptop so it is using wired. I am thinking my wan gateway on my vpnrouter is wrong. On the wan, after choosing pptp, it only let me put 192.168.1.1 for the gateway and the next line beneath is the pptp server name. I cannot be usiing default gatway 192.168.1.1 because that is my primarily router, and it will be getting an ip from the primary router. The vpn router should get the ip from the hong kong server. I changed the wan gateway to 119.81.248.53 and it automatically changed back to 192.168.1.1 What should the wan setup pptp gateway be??
The gateway on your VPN router is correct. Because the VPN router is using your primary router (192.168.1.1) to go on the internet.
Please post another screenshot of your VPN router

I do have a 2nd router which is already hooked up to Tvpad3 as my house is a bit big so I have 2 wifis (sp?) and hard wired the house a bit with cat5 as well as the other tvpad2 in bedroom. I could do some switching and get both pads to 2nd router. Just trying to keep it simple before jumping into a VPN. I might wait for the Hawaiian to get his system up before trying.
Thank you.
I don't have 2 routers and I'm not familiar with any of these tech. terms you are using. Can you let me know where I can find VPN in the settings? Thank you.

Make sure you are using a recent version of the Netgear R7000 firmware. If not, there is XWRT which is the ASUS Merlin firmware that supports both.
That's easy... If wired, the wire from the tvpad goes into one of the LAN ports on router 2. If wireless/Wi-Fi, the SSID should be for router 2. Router 2 should connect from the WAN side to router 1's LAN side.

Router #1 is your main router and has WAN going to the actual Internet providers modem.
Router #2 is the VPN client router which has it's WAN connecting to the LAN side of router #1.
TVPad and anything else you want on the VPN including the computer for testing goes to router #2's LAN side either by wire or Wi-Fi to Router #2's SSID.

Look at your WAN IP address on router 2, the gateway should be whatever it is with .1 as the last number. If you DHCP, you can leave it blank as the DHCP is supposed to query that info. Make sure you are on the WAN setup page, the same page where you can setup PPPoE and not the VPN page.

Thank you.
Try connecting the PPTP on the computer directly and see what happens.
