DNS 123... working in NYC tvp4 fw5.054. Make sure when inputting the DNS in maual mode that rest of other numbers above the DNS are the same as the auto mode ones.Cold reboot by unplug and replug power cord to restart .
Subject: Very close to setting up vpn router please help. (For those, Vpn is the only way to go because dns needs to keep changing to watch)
Here is my 2 screenshot for the second wireless router, call it the vpnrouter. When I plug my testing laptop to vpn router, I am able to get onto the internet, but ipchicken.com shows my real public ipaddress, not hong kong ipaddress. My second router is in the same subnet (same network) as the first router. My first router is 192.168.1.1, and my second router is 192.168.1.3. Dhcp is given by my first router. 2nd router has wan setup as pptp. The screenshot below is the pptp settings on second router.

The first router ipaddress is 192.168.1.1 and subnet are 255.255.255.0. The second router ipaddress is 192.168.1.3 and subnet 255.255.255.0. Both router1 and router2 are in the same subnet group. (They are the 24 bit subnet mask that can hold 254 comp)
By the way, I want to double check what should the default gateway be on both router1 and router2? I am assuming the default gateway for the first router is 192.168.1.1 and the default gateway of the second router is 192.168.1.3
You are confusing yourself putting a nat'ed ips into the same subnet

Subject: Even More Closer To Get Vpn router Setup
Here are my router1 and router2 info. A testing laptop plugged in either router1 and router2 is able to get onto internet, but the laptop has a Hawaii's public ipaddress. Laptop plugged to router2 should be my Hong Kong's ipaddress.
Router1 (primary router):
Wan setup: dhcp
Lan setup: ip is 192.168.1.1, subnet is 255.255.255.0, gateway, 192.1681.1., dns is 192.168.1.1. Dhcp is yes
Router 2 (vpn router):
Wan setup: pptp. pptp server is hk.privateinternetaccess.com. username and pwd from privateinternetaccess.com
Lan setup is 192.168.2.1, subnet is 255.255.255.0, gateway is 192.168.2.1, dns is 192.168.2.1. Dhcp is yes
I am not able to get a Hong Kong ipaddress?? This info plus your vpn diagram will help lots of people like me having problem. When it works, I wil write the solution clearly.

If that is the case, why don't you use the 2 routers and VPN service as your solution?
That should give tvpad a 192.168.2.x internal address and when it goes online it should be using the VPN address

Thank you for everyone contributing to this topic. I am in Central California and have both a Tvpad2 and Tvpad3. Wife is Korean so she watches just the Korean programs and stored Drama and TV programs. It is amazing what an emotional topic this is as these programs are a lifeline to so many people.
Now, with this background of my needs does anyone have an alternative to Tvpad without a monthly charge for Korean TV and Dramas?
I appreciate everyone's time and energy keeping the DNS updates posted. It really helps if the area and Tvpad series is included. Maybe we should use that info in a signature block.
Herbert
PS not sure if DNS 123 is still working for HD TV only as wife, who has cancer BTW, is sleeping.
Do you have a extra router laying around ? If you do you can try using VPN

For those that cannot watch hong kong drama, here are 2 websites http://hkdramas.se and http://www.kankansia.com/. They have the latest recorded tvb news and latest hong kong drama.
Still trying to get vpn to work.
When i plug my testing laptop to the vpn router, I do get a 192.168.2.x and able to get onto internet. But when I go to ipchicken.com on the laptop, it is stil my hawaii's public ipaddress. On the router2, on wan setup, I put the pptp server "hk.privateinternetaccess.com". The wan's ipaddress is dhcp. What is the gateway ipaddress suppose to be on the WAN setup??? If that is the case, why don't you use the 2 routers and VPN service as your solution?
Here should be the diagram of your network
Modem -> Primary Router (router1) |Lan Port| <->|Wan port| VPN Router (router2) |Lan Port| <-> |TVPad|
That should give tvpad a 192.168.2.x internal address and when it goes online it should be using the VPN address
