TVPAD 4 Logo Stuck

  • Per benxiong's suggestion (thanks for the help), I've tried "USB Burning Tool" after gotten the correct USB cable. I downloaded and installed the latest version 2.0.8, and was able to connect to the TVPad4 successfully. To flush the firmware, I downloaded the "t4_5.054.zip" file (I'm in the US) and unzip the image "recovery.img" from it. But when I try to pull in this image file to the "USB Burning Tool", it shows an error message "Parse burning iamge fail". Same problem occurs when I tried the "recovery.img" from the "m201-0ta.zip" file, also. I've provided the screen capture below. Has anyone seen this problem before? Is TVPad's image file not compatible with the usb burning tool?

I was happy when the software was finally able to connect to the TVPad unit, but got discuraged when the error shows up :anguished:
  • This tool must use "img" format files, and no official firmware, the official only upgrade package, so this tool can not use the upgrade package, the only way is to find an "img" firmware, first Tvpad4 flush into another system, and then backup or downgrade method Restore back to Tvpad4 system.

If you have the cable, you may want to try install adb drivers.

After that, at the command prompt type:

    adb reboot recovery

  • ADB should not work, I have a StarTV official firmware, and Tvpad4 configuration is the same, https://mega.nz/#!pdolyaTK!ok1F7RDg7ckJ-234DGwJozOBc1BYgBL8MxjdBXT8AlI Remember to unzip the file ,go back to Tvpad4 Please refer to the downgrade method ,good luck!

  • benxiong, per your instruction, I've downloaded and unzip the image file "aml_upgrade_package.img". I then load it into the USB Burning Tool. After connected to TVPad4, the tool was able to start the process. It was good till 94%, and then an error "UBOOT/Low power/Send command/Error result" showed up. I've tried several times, but has always gotten the same error. I've made the screen capture and posted it in the link below:

Now I cant even see the TVPad4 logo after reboot anymore.
Still couldn't get it to work :astonished:
  • Please download the old version of USB Burning Tool v2.0.5

  • benxiong, I can't believe that it works!!! Thank you so much for your generosity and expertise on showing me the solution to this problem. I don't think I could fix this without your help. There are so many times that I throw my broken TVPad4 to the gargage can (when people telling me that this cannot be fixed or when I got stuck in the procedures), but I went and dig it out every time when you post new solutions or procedures to try out.

To summarize, I use your procedures below to fix this problem:
    1. Get usb type a male to type a male cable to connect between TVPad4 and a pc.
    2. Install "USB Burning Tool" v2.0.5 (newer version will not work) to the pc
    3. Download StartTV firmware/image file from https://mega.nz/#!pdolyaTK!ok1F7RDg7ckJ-234DGwJozOBc1BYgBL8MxjdBXT8AlI to use it with the usb burning tool
    4. Once TVPad4 was able to boot up with StarTV firmware, follow the instruction from https://tvpadtalk.ca/discussion/1071/downgrading-tvpad-4-to-5-054/p1 to get TVPad4 5.054 firmware back.

It tooks me a few days to finally gotten this. At this point, I still have hard time believing that this unit could work. Thanks to your help, my family can have one more TV to enjoy our favorite tv programs from this repaired unit. https://postimg.org/image/dukyxkxdp/

    Thanks again!
