Is there a way to get Google Playstore on TVpad 4?

Just curious anyone has worked out how to get TVpad 4 to have Google playstore. In case one day TVpad 4 streaming sources goes and company shuts down, we can at least use the box as a generic android device for the TV.

I'm not sure if this requires root access and have no idea if you can root it.

I tested below methods they all FAILED....

Installing Google play the APK can be downloaded here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1996995

The Google installer from MIUI Xiaomi which has the Google Framework etc

http://en.miui.com/thread-3998-1-1.html

Any other ideas? Please share. :)

@neonlight If the playstore can't be installed there are always 3rd party stores you can install

    Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/get-appstore/android/ref=mas_rw_ldg

    1Mobile Market: http://market.1mobile.com/

Unsure where to get this. Please advice.

I know it's an old thread but here is the answer.

    http://opengapps.org/

    Pick: ARM, 4.4, pico

Have you tried it yourself? Would be nice to know if it works. there's not much space on T?vpad 4 so pico could be the best choice

I have not tried it on the tvpad4 as I tend to side load items I need. I'm kind of a different user as I've got my tvpad4 rooted and, despite what everyone else says, I run Kodi on it too.
  • Adding Google account to TVPad 4 is required before Google Play Store can function properly even if it is side-loaded to the box. But the add account function is disable by TVPad, just wonder if rooting the box can enable it.

Which version of Play Store did you use? My TVPad 4 is rooted, so I would like to try it. Thanks.
  • @awdrifter , I couldn't remember since it was months ago.

As far as I know it clears all the apps list on the front page, and adds the Google playstore and Google services framework. So you can at least use it as a normal android box, can even sign in to Google under device manager. Previous firmware cannot.

I have no idea how, it downloaded via OTA directly. So there's no way to get the files unless someone knows how. In fact there were 2 upgrades one was to 5.064 then another to 5.066

It didn't clear the app from the front page. The only thing happened was the cantonese app moved to the last page. Everything seemed the same.

Ok I try to update firmware 0.566 OTA from 0.560 .Yes finally they are unblock the google play function and also can connect to app store in USA. It seems Tvpad is go back normal now :p B)

If your Pad is ver.0.545 than you need to update to 0.560 by manual and then up to 0.566
(because ver.0.545 cannot connect to server in US)

For me, what happened was the front page flush out all app shortcuts. Existing apps are still installed and in place, but I couldn't launch unless I got to Tvpad Appstore and launch from there. I discovered I had to install another app and all apps including the Google play ones comes on screen....it is weird.
