MoonBox vs TvPad

The main difference between MoonBox and TVpad is the operating system:

1. MoonBox runs Android - an open system that allows you to run any software. (tu)
2. TVpad runs its own proprietary software. (td)

Both boxes make use of their own server to streaming networks. However if there are any problems with their server or their server get shutdown (as is very possible in the future) then the TVpad will become a useless brick and your investment will be wasted. Whereas if Moon Box's main TV streams server were shut down, you'd also have the option to install other channels and applications.(Google Play Store or APK apps) In fact, Moon Box comes with dozens of other channels, including options like XBMC/KODI. with addons

    I thought the TVPad4 ran Android or is it a restricted Android without Playstore access?

    Another question, what's the difference between the Moonbox M3 and M3S?

    The main difference I can see between M3 and M3S is that the M3 is dual core and M3S is quad core. Also the M3S is white.

    I'm mostly interested in the Moonbox now that TVPad seems to be getting sued to death. Anyone know whether Moonbox is properly licensing its content?

    I meant besides the color... LOL. Yeah, I guess I missed the part about the M3 being dual core as I noticed the clock frequency was higher on the M3. Moonbox isn't licensed since you would be paying for it if it was.

    No point of switching to Moonbox if the reason of you switching to it is the lawsuit.

    Don't buy Moonbox if you are interested in the replays of the HK TV shows. The recordings are messy and not watchable most of the time.

    Moonbox does offer a larger archive of the past TVB drama and movies than TVPad.

    TVpad 4 is a Android box you can install tons of apps on it, for XBMC, not sure. Moonbox is the sister brand of iPlayer 5, they might walked away like iPlayer 5 with no support even it's still working.

    No Tvpad don't support Google Play too bad !:?

    TVPad runs Android 4.x and you can install things from the store / APK. Android is the way forward. The boxes are almost the same you need to compare the services

    after I read the full review from your about the Unblock tech Gen.2. I am still can not make the call to purchase between Unblock Gen2 or Moonbox 3 ? which box will you get ? please help.,,,, mainly just to watch TVB Drama...thank you

    If it's just drama why not just get a cheap android box

    I've purchased moonbox and unblock tech gen 2, although haven't received my unblock tech yet, also bought android box to perform few tests, yes, you'll only get moonbox or unblock tech to get the live channels, as VOD's you can use cheap android box to play either by kodi / azdrama or other apps (not sure what apps are being used for HK/China VODs for Korean MoaTV is widely used, and if you have keyboard/mouse hookup to android box than you can also use "All the Down blackedition v4 (technically can use mouse function on remote but that's extremly hard to make selections) for way more Korean VOD content (not user friendly though, MoaTV is), although you can also install cloudtv app to watch the live channels but haven't seen any HD channels (didn't search all though, know for fact Korean channels are SD)

    I would suggest to buy this "Weltv 2gen" the interface just closed to the tvpad.

    Don't buy the MoonBox if your wife is mainly interested in current TVB VODs unless you want to drive her nuts. The VODs are not recorded well, they skipped a few minutes here and there, in some extreme cases, a one hour show only last a few minutes. The old show archives are okay though and its collection is much larger than TVPad's.

    What is the good and the bad about WelTV? I have watched several demo on YouTube, but have no idea on comparing to moonbox, tvpad4, unblock gen 2.

    Seriously, I don't think any of these Set-Top-Box are licensed even though some of them claiming they are. Don't change or buy another box until the current one is 100% completely dead. In chinese... "One chicken died, one chicken born.". >:D< There always be another company.

    TVPad has been unstable (i.e. on and off service) recently because of geo-block and pending shutdown. It is good to look for alternatives if you have extra money. Plus those boxes are not the same. Each one has its strength and weakness.
