I found out that if I don't need TVB (or basically Hong Kong) content via TVB apps, I can set up TvPad 4 with auto DNS, and gain access to 90% of the apps & content streamed from China.
I was able to watch a lot of movies and TVB soap drama in Cantonese & Mandarin via the VST app, VChannel (side loaded), Cloud TV; live mainland China channels via TVPlus 2.0
Disclosure:
I have a extra TVPad1 M121S set up with DNS 49.x so my wife can get her standard fix on TVB content using standard TVB apps (live, time shift, and drama VOD)

You can do all these with a $50 Android Media Box. Most people bought the TVPad for the TVB stuffs.

@BennyLam:
Well, I have 3 TVPads, so 2 of them are dedicated to TVB content, and the other (TVPad4) is a "kitchen" player
It is better to make TVPad4 useful instead of leaving it as a paper weight.

Have a tvpad4 in NYC on 5.054. Won't update firmware from menu, just says checking or you have latest... I want to avoid factory resetting, I'd like to update via microsd. Where can I download the latest firmware?
if you are in the US don't even bother to upgrade the firmware. upgrading only works outside of the US, if you upgrade you may get that restricted user message...which means your TvPad is now a paperweight

If you have already upgraded the firmware and got locked, just do a factory reset, install the app package from the Useful Files thread and then use All-In-One Download app to find the Apps you want. the TVPad will become a crippled Android box. Make sure not to change the DNS, otherwise, you have to reset the box again.

I have not updated my firmware yet. I guess I won't risk it, break out my old tvpad2 that still works and give it a few weeks. Thanks for the assistance.
Tvpad email me to download package with 29 apps in it. After installation, the cantonese chanels work few minutes only. Do any of you have the same issue and know how to fix it? I am using Tvpad 4 in US.
Hello all,
I'm from California USA. DNS 49.213.10.163 works on my TVPad 3.
However, my N+ Store app does not work any more. I cannot stream TVB programs any more. Can anyone help me?
Thank you.
