TVPad2 - VPN not working with two routers

Hello,
I am having trouble getting both of my routers to work properly - first router regular internet with no VPN, second router with VPN for TVPAD. The TVPAD works fine with l2ptp connection with just one router, but with 2nd router, my tvpad won't connect.
My 1st router is wired - cable modem to WAN, computer to LAN, and 2nd router WAN to 1st router LAN. My 2nd router has 1st router connected and tvpad connected to LAN.
Things I have done so far:
- follow this diagram:
- followed instructions on 'configuring l2ptp' video

You not making sense. You stated "The TVPAD works fine with l2ptp connection with just one router". Why you creating 2 VPN routers?

Anyways, I decided to take a break, got something to eat. When I came back, I finally got connection on my 2nd router. Maybe I didn't give it enough time to connect?
This time it's a different problem. Weird thing is, I first tested the VPN with Canada server and everything was working fine. However, when I came back TVPAD has internet connection but still cannot connect; so I tried to change VPN server to Japan instead. This time it worked.
Thanks for the reply guys.
Off topic, but I need to help my grandma with her TVPAD as well. Do you guys know if I share VPN l2lpt login with her? Also if I should use the TVPadDNS?

The paid dns would work for tvpad 2. However you will need a way to have the IP auto updated. You'll probably need an extra router either way for grams. Unless grams is within the same household ?
