my tvPad3 cannot connect at all. I was told by friends in LA to change DNS to any one on the list. But when I tried to go to manual to change DNS, it asks me to input for IP address, Subnet Mask and Gateway? What should I do? HELP! Appreciate someone walking me through the steps to recover

AL,
where are you changing the DNS? If it's on the tvpad, those fields would autopopulate based on the auto settings; you would then navigate to the DNS field to change the DNS.
I don't have a tvpad3, but the tvpad1,2& 4 all work the same way.
tvpad 1,2 and 4 work that way but not the 3! once you go to manual you must fill in all the data, but if you change the dns and return to auto it resets the dns to the original setting

Stop telling ppl to get VPN, a lot of them don't even know how to set it up and will cause them more problems, if they delete any system files by accident, their tvpad will end in a brick. Not even a restore will help nor tvpad ppl.
How do you delete a system file if the tvpad isn't rooted ?

Currently, my tvpad2 is set to Auto using VPN. I could no longer get it to work without VPN,

There's a lot of ways to delete files in tvpad even if rooted, remember the program you posted for resetting VPN cache? That's one of them, file explorers also can.
Not a lot of ppl know what they are doing like us, that's why I never suggest apps for others to use unless I knew it's safe for them.
Edit: tvpad isn't really locked, no need to root.

Don't think I posted any app to reset the vpn cache.

Maybe I remember it wrong, sry , but there was an app someone posted for clearing settings which is not right for everyone to use. It can BRICK their device if they delete the system file by accident. Which will end up not booting.

Wow! your sounds are realy to scared every body.........
Come on people, TVPad4 is an Android box. If you know how to clear cookie/cache/data on your smartphone (especially Android based phones), you will know how to use the app's data
select an app, clear cache/data and that is it.
Rule of thumb: if there is an app you don't recognize, or know that it is not app you installed, don't touch it.
It was me who suggested to use the Quick App Settings app to clean the VPN cache. Turned out, the app was not necessary and clear cache didn't help much. I hope no one had bricked his/her box because of my suggestion.
I did accidentally found the way to bring up the official Android Settings Menu. Simply attach a mouse to the TVPad4, click and drag it down from the top right side of the screen. A window will appear to let you select the Settings, Wi-Fi and Location control panels.
With the access to the Settings Menu, I was happy to disable the annoying button click sound. What a relief.

Awesome tip. I was able to turn off the annoying click sound as well, and set the device's date/time correctly

Ok it looks like your friend didn't give you a complete execute
!, (If you use ethernet) go for automatic connect to internet then you will get IP address, Subnet

AL,
where are you changing the DNS? If it's on the tvpad, those fields would autopopulate based on the auto settings; you would then navigate to the DNS field to change the DNS.
I don't have a tvpad3, but the tvpad1,2& 4 all work the same way.
tvpad 1,2 and 4 work that way but not the 3! once you go to manual you must fill in all the data, but if you change the dns and return to auto it resets the dns to the original setting
see if this post helps:

select an app, clear cache/data and that is it.

It is just that simple
I did accidentally found the way to bring up the official Android Settings Menu. Simply attach a mouse to the TVPad4, click and drag it down from the top right side of the screen. A window will appear to let you select the Settings, Wi-Fi and Location control panels.
With the access to the Settings Menu, I was happy to disable the annoying button click sound. What a relief.
