What do you guys root your media boxes for?

Just saw a few threads on here and people are talking about rooting their media box.

What exactly do you guys use the root for? I've done rooting on my phones long long time ago but never had to ...

    The main reason for me to rooted the box was in order for me to install a 翻牆app, It doesn't work if it"s not rooted. For that it allows many apps able to watch all the new China movies and drama with a location locked, apps like 騰訊 芒果 Yuku電視and many others without using VPN.
    Just like IOS jailbroken.
